Weatherization Field Inspector
Job Description
Weatherization Field Inspector work includes home inspections and residential improvement scope analysis focused on improving the energy efficiency of single family homes and multifamily buildings.
Responsibilies
- Perform field inspections on residential homes applying for improvements under the state of Texas Weatherization Assistance Program.
- Analyze home assessment documents provided by governmental agencies to confirm the necessary scope of work.
- Perform appropriate initial tests and readings and take critical field measurements to finalize a complete material and equipment list for all associated improvements.
- Schedule meetings with home owners for initial inspection and for the improvement work.
- Set customer expectations upon initial meeting and maintain a positive relationship through coordination of the installation.
- Communicate regularly with the governmental agency representatives regarding scope of weatherization work, identification of change orders, and detailed understandings of home assessments and work orders.
- Ability to remove, install, and replace various building materials . including doors, windows, insulation, flooring, skirting, vents, caulking, weather stripping and roofing.
- Possesses appropriate carpentry skills and techniques to install building materials.
- Ability to manage work and multiple tasks efficiently and productively
- Capable of performing to meet the level of expectation set by the inspecting parties
Requirements
- Knowledge of the weatherization industry and its. standard practices
- Understanding of the different types of weatherization assessments/audits (Texas Priority List, NEAT audits, Easy 3 audits)
- General carpentry experience
- Proven ability to work efficiently and to manage multiple crews
- Knowledge of and demonstrated safe use of all necessary tools
- Able to function without direct supervision
- Able to perform required manual labor, including ability to lift 50 lbs
- Must know proper lifting techniques and be in general good health
- Computer skills and spreadsheet development skills is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Weatherization Technical Certification
